"Where is the media? Where is the open discussion? Why is the public - who are the real stakeholders in this mass experiment - being kept in the dark?"
Ever wonder who actually makes our laws and regulations such as the NAFTA, the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP) and whole host of others? Why these suddenly appear from thin air? Certainly the constituents don't generally make them! More often than not, there is no public consultation, input or pressure. These laws and regulations are mostly done in secrecy. Why the secrecy if the public is being represented for some perceived benefit? These laws and regulations are primarily made by private interests. These then are then the real law makers - more on this in another post... The only say we the constituents occasionally get is via the much maligned private member's bills and such which by and large are very difficult to pass even though this is the most democratic process. Occasionally, in this rigged Democracy, a concern germane to the constituents slips through the crack when a politician actually does his/her fiduciary duty. This is one of those occasions. Hence, it behoves us to take full advantage though concerted mass action and continued follow up.
Remember, the definition of a politician is: policy maker who then enforce this policy with police (force). The clandestinely astute corrupt simply have to make self serving policies and then they have the whole machinery of the government to enforce their dirty deed by force! Q.E.D.

This uplifting short work is a must read for both understanding and encouragement in dealing with these matters. For "those who do not know history will be doomed by it."
These behind the scenes pushers use every trick the book to push their stooges who often don't even know or read the laws and regulations they are supporting....

Following is a compilation of emails that expresses the real sentiment of the people but will be summarily trumped if we don't act on mass and keep this issue in the forefront. To make this more effective try to do all: write, fax, email*, print out the petition and send it by snail mail, and/or telephone your representative directly and don't forget to be persistent! Clearly emphasizing the extreme importance to you in your note. Many MPs like mine often state that they are not able to study the issue and rely on party line supported by some regulatory body or such. Please ensure you state as your elected represent it is their duty to represent you. Ambiguity needs to be avoided at all cost. Please be creative, articulate and direct to the point. Send follow up letter and/or fax, phone and keep demanding a response on how and what they will actually do to mitigate concerns outlined. You will find examples below.

The media covers so many issues that are of an individual nature - interesting, but not very relevant to the BIG PICTURE of what is seriously impacting the survival of humanity and our civilization.
The issue of genetically engineered food is just one of several issues that implicate serious consequences, and yet there is hardly a mention or discussion in the mainstream media - even those all of the evidence presented has been carefully and accurately documented.
Jeffrey Smith is by far the MOST informed man on GMOs in North America - not affiliated with the industry.

Please consider giving this issue - that affect everyone who eats - the airing that it deserves. The public deserves to know the thruth. And your families are as affected as ours!!!!!

We need to let all of our Members of Parliament know definitively and unequivocally that this is what Canadian Citizens are demanding as the minimal protection against the serious damaging health effects of GMO foods - hoping that this will ultimately be followed by a complete ban on this devastating contamination of the food supply. London’s Water director Pat McNally's solution to add Sodium hydroxide (LFP October 20, 2007) to reduce lead levels has overlooked a major factor.
Many may not know that London has been putting a non pharmaceutical grade chemical called silcofluoride in water that already contains impurities such as lead and arsenic. While the quantities of these contaminants may look low they are cumulative and are a violation of the Safe Water Act. There are two published studies by Masters and Coplan (1999, 2000)* of considerable importance. Masters and Coplan found a significant increase in children's blood lead (2 times for whites and 6 times for blacks) in both Massachusetts and New York associated with the use of this chemical that is used to fluoridate water.
Sodium hydroxide will do nothing to remove lead contributed from silcofluorides and its ability exacerbates the problem from other sources. Should he not be removing this contaminant first before adding more chemicals to the water?

Here is an excellent strategy "aimed to puncture once and for all the false claim that the only people who are opposed to fluoridation are crazy people practicing junk science. We need to get as many professionals ( medical, dental, scientific and environmental as well as water department officials) to sign this as we possibly can. This list will grow and grow over the coming months. I am confident that as the list grows it will make it easier and easier for those opposed to it (quietly, off the record) to come out and state their opposition in public."
Paul Connett Ph.D. Executive Director of the Fluoride Action Network has put this very good, up to date, summary on the Fluoridation issue that needs to be circulated far and wide. This could also be very useful for all in encapsulating this, intentionally polarized, issue to the uninitiated. Please do your best to get as many professionals to sign up.

Over the last few days we have started something which should provide great ammunition to both local efforts and the effort to bring more pressure on DC. We have started to collect names on a "professionals' statement calling for end to to fluoridation."
This summarizes 7 major developments since 2000 which makes the end of fluoridation critical (see below for the statement and a list of those who have already signed).
It is aimed to puncture once and for all the false claim that the only people who are opposed to fluoridation are crazy people practicing junk science. We need to get as many professionals ( medical, dental, scientific and environmental as well as water department officials) to sign this as we possibly can. This list will grow and grow over the coming months. I am confident that as the list grows it will make it easier and easier for those opposed to it (quietly, off the record) to come out and state their opposition in public.
This is how you can help.
Please check the list of people who have helped in your campaign. Does this include any doctor, dentist, nurse, hygienist, academic, water department person, anyone holding an executive position in an environmental group? If so please ask them to sign the statement and send it back to me at <paul@fluoridealert.org>.
Please check out the list of people who have already signed. You notice that we already have two members of the NRC (2006) signed, as well as many doctors and dentists, and some very distinguished people from the environmental movement: Ken Cook (EWG), Peter Montague, Pat Costner, Craig Williams, Dan Knapp, Jeffrey Morris, Ralph Ryder (UK) and Mageswari Sangaralingam (Malaysia) as well as a great international representation.
The importance of the ?environmental? names is twofold ? 1) they bring a more objective perspective to this debate than those who have been trapped by their medical/dental school training/brainwashing and 2) as our support grows among the environmental movement it will generate far more numbers to put pressure on DC.
Where does this fit in to our larger efforts?
Our ultimate goal - to get a congressional hearing and have those who promote fluoridation to testify and be cross-examined under oath.
- First we mobilize as many professionals to support the call for an end to fluoridation as outlined above.
- Then we organize a new online petition which supports these professionals call for an end to fluoridation and calls for among other things, a congressional hearing. As we have already discussed we will be using a system which will automatically send each signature to their reps in DC. This flow of emails to DC will be our bread and butter background effort for the next few years. It will ebb and flow as other fluoride events take place ? but it will always be there as a backdrop.
- We will further increase efforts on DC with individual lobbying efforts by myself, Bill Hirzy, Bill Osmunson and others.
- On the horizon is also the possibility of a lobby day, where we will have a coordinated effort to get more people to DC to lobby as a group as well as those (who cannot make it to DC) lobbying their reps at their local offices.
Please let me know if you think you can get 1, 2 or more professionals in your town or state to sign onto this statement.

Here is a quick synopsis on Sustainable Seafood extracted from the Summer 2007 (London, Ont. Canada) Slow Food newsletter. While on this theme it provides me with an opportunity to remind you to see Sharkwater, aside from the breathtaking beauty of this film it is essential viewing for anyone who cares about the state of the environment and the future of the world as a whole. This film really shows why not to depend on the masses and especially the governments - it is a clear demonstration of Margaret Mead's statement "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has." We can be those citizens! For a success story* see end of this article.
Please note that in the sustainable alternative listed below, I do not , in the main, consider, farmed fish as a viable alternative! While this does have the potential to be such, however, their can be use of fish feed (such as shrimp, crabs, shell fish etc.) from poorer countries, thus depriving the locals of much needed sustenance.
The alternative is GM foods coming fast and furious and other contaminates...
