Garlic ingredient wipes out hospital superbugs in tests

BAn ingredient in garlic may offer one of the best defences against hospital superbugs, research shows. The compound is said to be effective even against highly resistant strains of the notorious MRSA bug, which has claimed many lives.

Tests by Dr Ron Cutler, a microbiologist, showed it can cure patients with MRSA-infected wounds "within days", he said. Allicin, which occurs naturally in garlic, not only killed known varieties of MRSA, but also new superbug generations resistant to "last-resort" antibiotics such as vancomycin. The findings will be published in the Journal of Biomedical Science in the new year.

Dr Cutler, from the University of East London, said: "Antibiotics are increasingly ineffective [against MRSA]. Plant compounds have evolved over millions of years as chemical defence agents against infection. Garlic has been used in medicine for centuries."

MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) causes 2,000 deaths in UK hospitals each year, mainly by infecting surgical wounds. Dr Cutler is starting clinical trials.

hi, my women has had this MRSA bac.bug for going obn 4 years now and it is getting strong in her bode despite the anti biotics[4 diff. kinds]her doctor prescribes . she is at the the very crabby/antagonistic state of mind [in my experience when folks are dieing laying in bed etc. they are very mean, irratable and general shorttempered buttheads;it that dirty feeling inside;to other folks around them].she has had 10 hip operations intubated bout 29 times, an open wound at the hip 4 years, it was 9x5x4.5 in. deep it is now after 4 years 4x2.5 with the skin growing into leg to look like mouth , she now has apermenant tube in her right chest which is covered with tagaderm clear bandages it starts hurting her we now find that it oozing gray, yellow or redish yellow/gray pus inwhich some of this substance will dry and getes driedup around the chest OSand the tube comes out,this is used for plasma parecies done twice a month like today at 1300 hrs.here go again ,and is very pretty ill for about 48 hrs. .she has also MYOSTENIA GRAVISE AND CANNOT SWALLOW WATER NORMALLY ARE SHE ASPARATES AND THIS CONNECTED TO EMOTIONAL SITUATIONS WHICH SEEM TO BRING ON THIS MYO[muscle]GRAVIS[gravity] right now shes awaking to change the bandage cause it hurts wait aminute gotta log off.this great tranning for me i guess later dase folks...
