What I found particularly interesting in this article - apart from the fact that monopolies are bad for service quality and the medical monopoly makes no exception - is that four hundred years ago, when King Henry VIII established his Herbalist Charter, the situation he describes and which prompted him to guarantee the free exercise of the herbalist's profession, is not much different from today's troubles.
