Poison Control Statistics Prove Supplements' Safety: No Deaths from Vitamins, Minerals, Amino Acids or Herbs
There was not even one death caused by a dietary supplement in 2008, according to the most recent information collected by the U.S. National Poison Data System. The new 174-page annual report of the American Association of Poison Control Centers, published in the journal Clinical Toxicology, shows zero deaths from multiple vitamins; zero deaths from any of the B vitamins; zero deaths from vitamins A, C, D, or E; and zero deaths from any other vitamin.
Additionally, there were no deaths whatsoever from any amino acid or herbal product. This means no deaths at all from blue cohosh, echinacea, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, kava kava, St. John's wort, valerian, yohimbe, Asian medicines, ayurvedic medicines, or any other botanical. There were zero deaths from creatine, blue-green algae, glucosamine, chondroitin, melatonin, or any homeopathic remedies.
Furthermore, there were zero deaths in 2008 from any dietary mineral supplement. This means there were no fatalities from calcium, magnesium, chromium, zinc, colloidal silver, selenium, iron, or multimineral supplements.
No man, woman or child died from nutritional supplements. Period. That kind of makes the laws and directives to "ensure supplements are safe" that the European Commission has been passing in recent years so much hogwash. Why do supplements have to be made safe when carefully researched and approved medicines cause many thousands of deaths, while supplements cause none?
Is there some other agenda at work here rather than protecting consumers?
Censored Nutrition Research: How Medline Fools All of the People All of the Time
A dose of irony from the orthomolecular crowd...
"The beauty of this is that we do not have to follow the published guidelines. We control the National Library of Medicine so skillfully that we got Medline to index publications that are not medical journals at all. We are enormously proud to say that Medline indexes Time magazine, Newsweek, US News and World Report, and Consumer Reports. But not the peer-reviewed Journal of Orthomolecular Medicine, continuously published for more than 40 years, nor the peer-reviewed journal Fluoride, also published for decades.
"Yes, there are about 2,000 indexed articles on Medline/PubMed just from Time magazine. Here: see for yourself what a great job we've done.
Unlocking a Cure for Cancer – With Pot
Who could imagine that cannabis might one day offer hope as a cure for cancer? The United States government, that’s who.
For the past 30 years, U.S. officials have willfully ignored clinical research indicating that marijuana can inhibit the growth of certain type of malignant tumors. However, the recent publication of a trio of clinical studies and a pair of scientific reviews have effectively blown the lid off "Cancergate," and revealed that pot’s medical value may be far greater than ever presumed.
Cannabinoids, Miracle Drug of the 21st Century
by Jeffrey Dach MD
Although cannabis was a medicinal plant for thousands of years, its medical use was suppressed and banned throughout most of the 20th century. Banned in England, Canada and the US in the 1930's, medical cannabis represents the first casualty in a war against natural medicine waged by the pharmaceutical industry. While banned in the US, there have been major scientific breakthroughs in Israel, Spain, Italy and Brazil over the last two decades.
Jesus healed using cannabis, study shows
Jesus was almost certainly a cannabis user and an early proponent of the medicinal properties of the drug, according to a study of scriptural texts published [in 2003].
The study suggests that Jesus and his disciples used the drug to carry out miraculous healings. The anointing oil used by Jesus and his disciples contained an ingredient called kaneh-bosem which has since been identified as cannabis extract, according to an article by Chris Bennett in High Times magazine...
Patents Being Used To Keep Starving Children From Getting Therapeutic Food Paste
Apparently, the company came up with "a mixture of peanut butter, powdered milk, sugar and vegetable oil fortified with 40 vitamins and minerals," called it Plumpy'nut, patented it, and started offering it to various aid agencies. Apparently, it works great, but anyone else who creates anything remotely similar comes under attack from Nutriset's lawyers, who apparently like saving children only when there's no competition from anyone who might do it more cheaply or more efficiently.
EFSA GMO regulatory chief takes EU ‘secrets’ to biotech industry
The former head of the GMO panel at the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), Suzy Renckens, has been allowed to move directly to a job in the genetic engineering industry. Such a move is not permitted according to EFSA’s own procedures, which are designed to prevent ‘conflict of interest’.
The Testbiotech Institute, Germany, who promote independent research and public debate on the impacts of biotechnology, made the information about the move public, and have reported that, only at that point, did the EFSA executive management acknowledge and communicate about the controversial move.
Testbiotech is demanding that EFSA face ‘consequences’, and is calling for its reorganisation. Testbiotech have also said they are referring the matter to the EU Commission.Silver colloids and ionic silver products haven't made the grade. The popular silver-based antimicrobial cannot be sold as a food supplement, as it has not been added to the food supplement directive's "positive list" as an allowed form of mineral supplementation. In this interview, Anders Sultan, producer of a Swedish brand of colloidal silver, explains how silver colloid is sold as a water purification product, rather than a food supplement.
MONSANTO'S GMO PERVERSION OF FOOD
Few people would eat Monsanto’s “food” if they understood what it was or knew that they were eating it. President Obama and his family won’t eat it. Neither did the Bush family. Even a Monsanto employee cafeteria rejects it. This is no laughing matter. Your health and the health of your children and grandchildren are at stake.
The authorities are watching over us (PDF)
by Sylvie Simon
We could add to the list of "potential killers still at large", such as dioxins, highly carcinogenic and mostly produced by the incinerators in refuse recycling plants; oestrogens which are found in high concentration in rivers and which are causing a drastic drop in the reproductive capacities of male fish; GM crops grown in open fields (much to the regret of 74% of the French population); and the innumerable phone masts, mobile phone antennas and wi-fi networks for wireless Internet spreading all over the country, although no credible study on their impact on human health has been done, and where it will take years for their damaging effects to become obvious. ...
All these scandals have many points in common, and one and the same origin: the fatal attraction of making money to the detriment of safeguarding health. Yet after each scandal, eminent "specialists" basking in general forgiveness tell us in trembling tones that the decisions that have been condemned were justified by "scientific knowledge at the time". Meanwhile, to the notion of "responsible but not guilty" has been added that of "guilty but not deserving of condemnation".
Very few of the people who are to blame have ever been condemned, and then they have only had to pay a fine. As long as this still happens, however large the fine may be, they will continue in their wicked ways, since the risk is far from equal to the profits to be made. The only way to limit the damage they can do is to put them behind bars along with those sentenced under common law, like anybody who has committed a crime.
Pill poppers: Over-reliant on pharma's drugs
On the 20th January 2010, the UK’s BBC 2’s Horizon aired a program regarding the pharmaceutical pill industry that probably caused many peoples belief systems to spin.
The program talked about the global pill industry as "an ongoing clinical trial in which we all take part", and outlined our reliance on these pretty coloured tablets. The BBC said “Drug discovery often owes as much to serendipity as to science, and that means much is learnt about how medicines work, or even what they do, when they're taken.
Video: Senate Hearing - Cell Phones and Health - Tumors and Cancer (10 minutes)
Scientists testify about research into cell phones use and its potential impact on human health, potential side effects such as brain and salivary gland tumors are discussed.
House of Numbers - A new film about Aids
The accuracy of HIV tests; the competing and unclear definitions of AIDS; whether HIV causes AIDS; overblown case numbers; the safety and efficacy of the medicines; the supposed lethality of HIV; all these issues come up for review.
What's remarkable is that Leung gained access to major AIDS researchers and bureaucrats and put them on camera for interviews: Robert Gallo; Tony Fauci; Robin Weiss; David Baltimore; Luc Montagnier. You'll see a gallery of officialdom on display.
Predictably, House of Numbers has ignited controversy. It questions authority.
Zambia Outraged - 46 Women Infected From HIV Trial
A failed clinical trial HIV vaccine that left 46 Zambian women infected with the virus has sparked controversy.
The National Aids Council of Zambia (NAC), a government unit mandated to oversee HIV/Aids programme, confirmed that 50 out of the 1, 332 women that participated in the clinical trials contracted HIV.
"The largest international clinical trial to date into a preventive HIV gel has found no evidence that the vaginal microbicide, PRO2000, reduces the risk of HIV infection in women," said Dr Macha, the former president of Zambia Medical Association.
Fox News: H1N1 Flu Is a False Pandemic, Health Expert Claims
"The great campaign of panic we have seen provided a golden opportunity for representatives from labs who knew they would hit the jackpot in the case of a pandemic being declared."
"We want to clarify everything that brought about this massive operation of disinformation. We want to know who made decisions, on the basis of what evidence, and precisely how the influence of the pharmaceutical industry came to bear on the decision-making."
UK Government Squandered More Than £1 Billion On Swine Flu Con
"Was the threat of 65,000 British swine flu deaths an unscientific exaggeration that has cost the country dearly, not only financially but in terms of stress and distorted NHS priorities?" he asked at question time then.
Mr Burnham defended the Government's response, saying: "We had to take every possible step to keep the country safe through what was declared a world health pandemic, not by this Government but by the World Health Organisation.
"We saw the events in Mexico in the spring, followed by the exceptional spike in flu cases in this country in the summer.
"There were understandably high levels of public concern, and I make no apology for making all the necessary preparations to keep the public safe through that. We have come through the pandemic because of the strength of the plans and preparations that this Government put in place."
This talk by Allan Savory at a recent meeting of Feasta, the Foundation for the economics of sustainability, at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. Savory explains how we can reverse global warming and desertification using ... cattle and other grazing livestock. This may seem surprising since livestock has been blamed to be part of the problem of global warming.
Vdeo: Keeping Cattle: cause or cure for climate crisis?
How to reverse desertification and green the dying landscape. Allan Savory has demonstrated time and again in Africa, Australia and North and South America that, properly managed, livestock is essential to land restoration. With the right techniques, plant growth is lusher, the water table is higher, wildlife thrives, soil carbon increases and, surprisingly, perhaps four times as many cattle can be kept.
