Poison Control Statistics Prove Supplements' Safety: No Deaths from Vitamins, Minerals, Amino Acids or Herbs
There was not even one death caused by a dietary supplement in 2008, according to the most recent information collected by the U.S. National Poison Data System. The new 174-page annual report of the American Association of Poison Control Centers, published in the journal Clinical Toxicology, shows zero deaths from multiple vitamins; zero deaths from any of the B vitamins; zero deaths from vitamins A, C, D, or E; and zero deaths from any other vitamin.Additionally, there were no deaths whatsoever from any amino acid or herbal product. This means no deaths at all from blue cohosh, echinacea, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, kava kava, St. John's wort, valerian, yohimbe, Asian medicines, ayurvedic medicines, or any other botanical. There were zero deaths from creatine, blue-green algae, glucosamine, chondroitin, melatonin, or any homeopathic remedies.
Furthermore, there were zero deaths in 2008 from any dietary mineral supplement. This means there were no fatalities from calcium, magnesium, chromium, zinc, colloidal silver, selenium, iron, or multimineral supplements.
No man, woman or child died from nutritional supplements. Period.
That kind of makes the laws and directives to "ensure supplements are safe" that the European Commission has been passing in recent years so much hogwash. Why do supplements have to be made safe when carefully researched and approved medicines cause many thousands of deaths, while supplements cause none?Is there some other agenda at work here rather than protecting consumers?

Apparently, the company came up with "a mixture of peanut butter, powdered milk, sugar and vegetable oil fortified with 40 vitamins and minerals," called it Plumpy'nut, patented it, and started offering it to various aid agencies. Apparently, it works great, but anyone else who creates anything remotely similar comes under attack from Nutriset's lawyers, who apparently like saving children only when there's no competition from anyone who might do it more cheaply or more efficiently.
EFSA GMO regulatory chief takes EU ‘secrets’ to biotech industry
The former head of the GMO panel at the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), Suzy Renckens, has been allowed to move directly to a job in the genetic engineering industry. Such a move is not permitted according to EFSA’s own procedures, which are designed to prevent ‘conflict of interest’.The Testbiotech Institute, Germany, who promote independent research and public debate on the impacts of biotechnology, made the information about the move public, and have reported that, only at that point, did the EFSA executive management acknowledge and communicate about the controversial move.
Testbiotech is demanding that EFSA face ‘consequences’, and is calling for its reorganisation. Testbiotech have also said they are referring the matter to the EU Commission.

All these scandals have many points in common, and one and the same origin: the fatal attraction of making money to the detriment of safeguarding health. Yet after each scandal, eminent "specialists" basking in general forgiveness tell us in trembling tones that the decisions that have been condemned were justified by "scientific knowledge at the time". Meanwhile, to the notion of "responsible but not guilty" has been added that of "guilty but not deserving of condemnation".
Very few of the people who are to blame have ever been condemned, and then they have only had to pay a fine. As long as this still happens, however large the fine may be, they will continue in their wicked ways, since the risk is far from equal to the profits to be made. The only way to limit the damage they can do is to put them behind bars along with those sentenced under common law, like anybody who has committed a crime.

Zambia Outraged - 46 Women Infected From HIV Trial
A failed clinical trial HIV vaccine that left 46 Zambian women infected with the virus has sparked controversy.The National Aids Council of Zambia (NAC), a government unit mandated to oversee HIV/Aids programme, confirmed that 50 out of the 1, 332 women that participated in the clinical trials contracted HIV.
"The largest international clinical trial to date into a preventive HIV gel has found no evidence that the vaginal microbicide, PRO2000, reduces the risk of HIV infection in women," said Dr Macha, the former president of Zambia Medical Association.
