CategoriesHere is another nutrient that runs circles around the generally toxic drugs. With all the harmful side effects of statins, aspirin etc. this should put a huge dent in the pharma. Is it no wonder they should like to Deny Freedom To Use Dietary Supplements.

-----------------------------If you’re a fan of Indian food, you’re treating more than your taste buds by indulging in your favorite turmeric-spiced foods. This brilliant yellow-orange herb is loaded with curcumin, an exceptionally potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. Both free-radical damage and inflammation are major factors in many common diseases, and curcumin has the unique ability to give them the one-two punch.
The animal studies on curcumin are extraordinary. Curcumin has been shown to prevent liver damage from alcohol, correct the defect that causes cystic fibrosis, inhibit tumor growth, and, perhaps most remarkably, dramatically reduce the buildup of amyloid plaques associated with Alzheimer’s disease. Scores of human clinical trials are currently underway exploring curcumin for the prevention and treatment of the above and other conditions, including Crohn’s and inflammatory bowel disease, psoriasis, and colon and pancreatic cancers.
The suggested dose of curcumin is 900 mg, once or twice a day. Piperine, a compound in black pepper, enhances curcumin bioavailability, so look for a combo product in your health food store.Extracted from: December 2005 Vol. 15, No. 12 - Health & Healing
