Pharmaceutical medicine is corrupt and has dismally failed in assuring our health. In fact pharma-based medicine has come to be one of the leading causes of death in the western world.
Good nutrition is of paramount importance in maintaining good health. Supplements are not only necessary to ensure we get enough of what our bodies need - they could extract us from the quandary of bankrupt public health systems that are increasingly difficult to sustain financially. So why are we regulating supplements in a restrictive way while giving pharmaceutical drugs a comparatively free reign? The actual record of performance would suggest an exactly opposing course of action: tighten the rules on pharmaceutical medicine and liberalize nutrition!"...

Hello,Take a look at these pages. The Government is taking aim at the supplement industry again and this time the seem to mean business. If they succeed we will lose the natural materials and how much further can the other goodies we are using to sustain ourselves with be behind them? Please write congress and oppose the new bill. I have written my representatives. I am looking for other groups where I can post this message. Please repeat this warning and urge anyone or group you know of that use supplements to petition congress to preserve our ability to economically access these gifts from God. Don't let them slip this one by under the radar, as they are currently attempting to do.
Don't Let Congress Limit Your Access to Dietary Supplements
If you live in New York might I suggest that you please write Ms. clinton some hate mail (election wise) in the hopes she will feel the threat to her re-election prospects if she proceeds as one of the prime movers of this bill which she is at the present time. Everyone, PLEASE let your representatives know that we will hold them accountable if they support such sneaky activity.
Be aware that the AMA and drug industry are powerful lobbies and this is in their interest so we must act now to protect our access. There was an issue of JAMA entirely dedicated to supplements 3-5 years ago where they lamented that supplements were the number two form of self paid, elective medicine in America. They even admitted in that article that many of the natural, (and therefore, UN-PATENT-ABLE) materials WORK BETTER OR AS WELL AS AND ARE SAFER THAN PRESCRIPTION DRUGS. They seemed to perceive that as an even greater threat with several suggestions on how to suppress vitamins and herbal materials in the public sector. They proposed to lobby congress to do exactly this type of move in that article to deny us access to them and drive that business to the traditional medical community and prescription drugs. Please don't let them get away with it.

Dear [recipient name was inserted here],May I ask you who supposedly represent "the people" in regards to their right of representation apparently transferred to you as a constituent, exactly what source of law do you acquire the authority to tell anyone what they can and cannot put in their own body?
Where does precedence (legal, constitutional or otherwise) exist for such legislation and resulting laws?
Presumably, if I cannot tell you what to consume, eat, do or how to act; and presumably you or another cannot dictate to others in this same manner without legislation into law; exactly where does your authority to enact and enforce such conduct originate? Certainly not in representation of "the people". Where?
This legislation is nothing but another form of "Prohibition" which was defeated and removed from the constitution as a bogus amendment.
It is but another form of taxation WITHOUT representation. If you represent anyone and such legislation applies to anyone, it is that class of "US Citizen's" CREATED by the 13th and 14th amendments of the constitution, both of which are inherently Unconstitutional, basis The Preamble.
Whom do you represent? Whom are such acts of legislation directed and enforced upon?
As a constituent and one of 190 million users of dietary supplements in the United States , I am alarmed by the discussions in Congress to change the law governing these safe, affordable and effective products, including vitamins, minerals, herbal and specialty products.
Although the safety record for dietary supplements far surpasses all drug products and many conventional foods, some in Congress seem intent upon imposing standards that in some cases exceed those generally toxic for over-the-counter prescription drugs. This translates into higher costs for me, the consumer, and fewer product choices.
The law governing supplements, the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act, clearly gives the Food and Drug Administration all the authority it needs to police the marketplace and keep bad products from being sold. I urge you to support any legislation that would give the FDA more resources to enforce DSHEA while leaving it intact.
Congress surely recognizes that there is a health care crisis in this country. And by supporting changes to the law that will limit the people's access to products that help keep them healthy, you're adding to it. Please don't dismantle DSHEA.
